The teenage son of former NFL player and Miami Dolphins linebacker has been charged with murdering his parents at their home in Houston, Texas. The 16-year-old was charged as a juvenile andis being questioned by investigators in connection with the deaths of Antonio and Dawn Armstrong, NBC reports.       Armstrong, 42,  who spent a season as a linebacker with the Miami Dolphins, and his wife Dawn were both shot in the early hours of  Friday  morning. Ms Armstrong died at the scene, while her husband was later pronounced dead at the city’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, having suffered a gunshot wound to his head.

Sokoto State Government said it has discovered no fewer than 12,915 ghost workers whose names were added into the payroll of the 23 Local Governments Areas of the state. The State Commissioner for Local Governments and Community Development, Alhaji Mannir Dan-Iya, disclosed this at a media briefing in Sokoto. "The Ministry, through the Monitoring Department and other stakeholders has concluded a local government junior staff verification of about 58,143 workers, comprising of scheduled and unscheduled staff. "The verification exercise has yielded a fruitful result, whereby about 12, 915 staff,comprising of seat-at-home and ghost workers were fished out of the local governments staff payrolls.

A 46-year-old woman,  Aisha , on Wednesday lost her 21-year-old marriage to her husband,  Ashimiyu , over poor cooking. The petitioner,  Ashimiyu , 54, approached the court and asked it to dissolve the marriage over his wife’s alleged poor cooking. “My wife does not know how to cook, her food was always tasteless. Anytime she cooks and I complain about it, she will tell me to cook myself. I started cooking my food because if I had continued to eat her food, I might have fallen sick. My wife was very dirty; she will not wash or sweep the house. Everywhere in the house used to smell. She kept packing used plates for four days or more without washing them and I was always doing the cleaning.

An aide of former Minister for State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, Lt. Commander A. O. Adewale, yesterday told EFCC operatives how on the orders of Obanikoro, himself and other staff members of Obanikoro, transported N1.2 billion to Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose in 2014. The N1.2 billion is part of the N4.745 billion allegedly paid into Obanikoro’s company, Sylva Mcnamara by the Office of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki. Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has denied allegations that he embezzled money meant for the development of Rivers state when he was governor. Amaechi said this while speaking at a stakeholders’ forum on corruption organised by the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja today July 28th. “If you had followed the Rivers State government when I was governor, we were the first state to introduce the Public Procurement Law in the country. The state cabinet used to call the Director General of Public Procurement in the state as an alternative governor, that they wanted an amendment to that law. The reason they wanted amendment is that he (DG) refused to increase the threshold to one hundred million naira, per ministry, instead he reduced it to 10 million naira. I had a battle with him (DG BPE) and the world bank who insisted that we should not go for an amendment but should persuade him to increase the threshold. Ambassadorial Screening The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs on Tuesday in Abuja, screened 15 ambassadorial nominees out of 47 that were sent by  President Muhammadu Buhari  for confirmation. The Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang , led the nominees to the screening venue. The Chairman of the committee,  Senator Monsurat Sunmonu , after the screening, announced that the committee will continue with the exercise on Wednesday. The nominees answered questions ranging from their qualification to experience on the job. However, some of the nominees failed to recite the National Anthem and Pledge when asked to do so.

The EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office, has arrested five suspected undergraduate scammers, 4 from the Federal University of Technology Akure, (FUTA) and 1 from Adekunle Ajashin University, Akungba. According to EFCC, the suspects who go about with the name "Tsunnami Gang and Young Pablo Money", are between the ages of 20 and 23. A 28 year-old housewife, Mary Attah has been condemned to death by hanging by an Effurun High Court for stabbing her Pastor husband, Darlington Attah, with a kitchen knife and setting him ablaze.                           Prosecution from the Delta State Ministry of Justice had told the Court that the accused who was married to Darlington Attah (now deceased) with four children, on or about the 6th day of July, 2012 at Effurun within the Effurun Judicial Division did attack her husband with a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the neck as a result of an alleged phone call from the husband’s lover.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode The Lagos State Government on Sunday said it will reduce dependence on federal allocation by increasing its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to a monthly target of N30 billion in 2017. It also said that it would increase the IGR to N50 billion monthly in 2018 and as it targeted a yearly budget of N1 trillion by 2018. This is contained in a communique issued at the end of a four-day retreat for members of the State Executive Council, Body of Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Government Agencies and Parastatals in Badagry. The communiqué said the retreat had the theme  “Reflect, Reappraise, Restrategise: Raising the Bar of Governance” . On the budget plan, it said the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget,  Akinyemi Ashade , described the target as ambitious, adding that appropriate measures were being adopted to achieve the plan.

Lagos State Government has defended the enforcement method of its Special Offences Task Force which favors the removal of number plates of erring vehicles over clamping down and towing of vehicles. In a statement jointly issued by the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Adeniji Kazeem and the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde today July 25th, the state government says the new method being adopted by the state Task Force particularly for illegal parking of vehicles or obstruction of traffic simply involves capturing the offence on video,  removing the number-plate of the erring vehicles and putting a branded sticker on the windshield of the car to inform the owner/driver of such cars about their offence and invitation for trial at the Special Offences Mobile Court which may sitting at any proximate local Government office or at the Special Task office at Alausa in Ikeja. Koffi Olomide’s Zambia concert has been cancelled after he assaulted one of his female dancers at Nairobi’s JKIA last Friday. The Rhumba maestro was arrested after a video of him assaulting one of his dancers went viral, sparking outrage and condemnation on social media. The Congolese Musician was scheduled to perform at this year’s 90th Show at the Zambia’s Agricultural And Commercial Society.
