Chimamanda, Nyong’o may collaborate on ‘Americanah’

Nigeria’s acclaimed writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has opened up about her work, her novels, the movie adaptation of ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ starring Thandie Newton and Chiwetel Ejiofor, among others.
And she revealed more in an interview with Arise Entertainment 360: a possible adaptation of her latest work, ‘Americanah’ by Oscar winner, Lupita Onyong’o, a kenyan-Mexican. She told her interviewer that Lupita will soon be announcing the nature of the collaboration. I’m going to do the mysterious thing and say that Lupita might be making an announcement very soon. I don’t know. That announcement might be about Americanah,” Adichie said.‘Americanah’, which has won the US Book Critic Award for 2013, tells the story of a young Nigerian woman who emigrates to America for a university education.
” Fearless, gripping, at once darkly funny and tender, spanning three continents and numerous lives, Americanah is a richly told story set in today’s globalized world.
The book was selected as one of the 10 Best Books of 2013 by the editors of the New York Times Book Review.
Meanwhile, Lupita Nyong’o has had talks with JJ Abrams over a role in forthcoming Star Wars revival Episode VII, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Nyong’o, who picked up the best supporting actress prize for her feature film debut in harrowing race drama 12 Years a Slave earlier this month, is said to be in the running for the part of the female lead.
The 31-year-old Mexican-Kenyan actor’s meeting with Abrams took place prior to the Oscars, at which Steve McQueen’s film also took home best film and best adapted screenplay.
