Anambra Missing baby reunites with family
Baby Chimdalu Nwite, who was in November 2013 stolen from an orphanage, Christian Compassionate Motherless Babies Home in Obosi Anambra State has been returned to his father, Mr Sunday Nwite.
He was found in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area on January 10th.
Baby Nwite, who was found in a sack by an okada rider in the night was seriously sick.
He was taken to a home in Awka by the ministry of Women Affairs and Social development, where he was given care for over a month before the home and his parents were invited to identify him.
While delivering the baby to the parents, Director of Child Protection in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mr Emeka Ejide said the ministry took the step because though the baby was sick and has been treated, he will better recover in the parents’ home than in the orphanage, where he was kept.
He urged the parents to remain united and train up their children in the best way they could rather than seeking refuge in orphanages.
“The worst family I can tell you is still better than the best motherless babies home anyone can find. It is better for us to hand the child over to his family where he can feel the warmth of his parents and recover fast”, he said.
Speaking with our correspondent, the father of the child, Mr Nwite said he was happy to be alive to receive his son.
He said he had passed through a lot of ordeal as a result of the disappearance of the child
five months ago, after he took him to Christians Compassionate Home for care as a result of mental illness suffered by the mother of the child.

He, however, said he will dedicate the baby to Christ, and on whether he will seek another home as the baby’s mothers was yet to recover, Nwite said he will never go close to a motherless babies home in his life again.
He said he will rather stop work and nurture his child himself.
On the part of the Christian Compassionate Home, the manager of the home, Mrs Ujunwa Chinedu said she was happy that the baby has been found at last.
She said the disappearance of the baby still remained a mystery, and that she will be glad if the mystery behind the theft of the baby in November last year was revealed.
