Ife Otedola – DJ Cuppy, the daughter of Nigerian business and oil mogul Femi Otedola, today was named the Tourism Ambassador for Nigeria in FCT, Abuja. At the private announcement, the hip disc jockey beamed in her green print dress and black pumps. Nigeria’s Minister for Culture and Tourism, Edem Duke as well as the Permanent Secretary made the announcement as they presented DJ Cuppy with an award. DJ Cuppy is excited about her new gig. A 35-year old man, Mr. Uwem Job, on Wednesday, beheaded two of his cousins, Mr. Akaninyene Job, 45; and Ezekiel Job, 36. Two other cousins – Itoro Job and Ekemini Job – narrowly escaped death as Uwem’s machete missed their throats, but cut through their hands. They were said to have been taken to a hospital in the area. Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred around 8.10am in Ikot Nkim, Ibesikpo/Asutan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. It was learnt that Uwem fled after the incident and his whereabouts had not been known. Akaninyene’s younger brother, Mr. Ekemini Job, told PUNCH Metro that around 8.10am, Uwem came to their house and told Akaninyene to come with him, saying that he had something to show him (Akaninyene). He stated that as Akaninyene opened the curtain to see what Uwem had for him, he (Uwem) hit Akaninyene on the neck with a machete and severed his head from the body.                                                               FUNSHO WILLIAMS Lagos State Chief Forensic Pathologist, Prof. John Obafunwa, on Wednesday told a Lagos High Court in Igbosere that the slain former governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Funsho Williams, was strangled to death. Six men – Bulama Kolo, Musa Maina, David Cassidy, Tunani Sonani, Mustapha Kayode and Okponwasa Imariabie – are standing trial before the court for the murder of Williams. Williams, who was to contest the 2007  governorship election in Lagos, was murdered on July 27, 2006, at his residence, 34A, Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi. The Academic Staff Union of Universities , Lagos State University, Ojo Chapter, on Thursday threatened to go on strike at the expiration of another 14-day ultimatum it declared on April 15. The union made the declaration at its South-West zonal congress, held at the institution. ASUU South-West Zonal Coordinator, Dr Adesola Nasir, said the ultimatum was with effect from April 15. “The 14-day ultimatum trade dispute had been issued to accord the management an opportunity to address the demands of the union. “ASUU would be holding its National Executive Council meeting at the expiration of the ultimatum and ASUU-LASU will embark on a full scale strik, if its demands are not met,” he said. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that ASUU- LASU had, on March 25, declared a 21- day ultimatum trade dispute, following the non-implementation of some agreements reached with its management over 12 months ago. Singer's attorney, Marty Singer, said in a statement that the claims are absurd and defamatory. A baby born with four arms and four legs had his extra limbs surgically removed on Friday. The boy, born April 2 in China's Guangdong Province, is in stable condition after the surgery, the Global Times reports. Yu Jiakang, chief surgeon at Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, told the Yangcheng Evening News that the baby was born joined at the torso to a headless parasitic twin. According to the Evening News, the mother underwent five examinations at various local clinics and hospitals, and doctors found no abnormalities with the fetus. However, the boy's father, identified only as "Mr. Chen," told ImagineChina that he felt guilty about his son's birth defects because he did not arrange for his wife to receive good enough care. "I only cared about my work," he said. "I just thought of making money instead of taking [my wife] to hospital for a medical checkup."

Kris Jenner was hospitalized for "internal pain" on Wednesday, April 16, reports E! News. A source close to Jenner confirmed to The Huffington Post that Jenner was indeed hospitalized, while an insider told E! that the 58-year-old momager "went to the hospital for some internal pains she was having," and "got a scan for precautionary reasons." Strong currents, rain and bad visibility hampered an increasingly anxious search Thursday for 287 passengers still missing a day after their ferry flipped onto its side and sank in cold waters off the southern coast of South Korea. Nine people, including five students and two teachers, were confirmed dead, but many expect a sharp jump in that number because of the long period of time the missing have now spent either trapped in the ferry or in the cold seawater. There was also fury among families waiting for word of passengers who were mostly high school students. There were 475 people aboard, and some of the frantic parents of the 325 student passengers who had been heading to Jeju island for a four-day trip gathered at Danwon High School in Ansan, which is near Seoul, and on Jindo, an island near where the ferry slipped beneath the surface until only the blue-tipped, forward edge of the keel was visible. Shareholders of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc have approved a total dividend payout of N50.033bn or N1.70 per share for the 2013 financial year. The shareholders gave the approval in Lagos on Monday at the bank’s Annual General Meeting. The GTB’s board of directors had recommended the dividend payment following the release of the bank’s result for the year ended December 31, 2013 which showed that it made a profit after tax of N90bn in the period. During the period, the directors paid an interim dividend of 25 kobo per ordinary share of 50 kobo each for the six months ended June 2013. The directors then recommended a final dividend of N1.45 per ordinary share of 50 kobo, bringing the total for the financial year to N1.70 per share. Besides approving the dividend, the shareholders also elected Mrs. Osaretin Demure as a non-executive director of the bank. It costs about $33,000 per kilogram to launch materials into low-Earth orbit, says Eduardo Nicolau, an analytical chemist at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras. Launching them higher is even more costly. Resupplying spaceships carrying people far outside Earth’s orbit—to Mars, say—probably would be prohibitively expensive even if possible. Lab-grown vaginas were implanted in patients for the first time report scientists at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center's Institute for Regenerative Medicine. In a paper published here in The Lancet the researchers describe long-term success in four teenage girls who received vaginal organs created using their own cells. The girls in the study were born with Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, a rare genetic condition in which the vagina and uterus are underdeveloped or absent.
