24 year old Anita Oluchi Okore, a graduate of Banking and Finance from Abia state University (pictured above) was murdered a few weeks ago in Port Harcourt by men believed to be ritualists. According to a family member, Anita, who is based in Ebonyi, had gone to see her older sister in Port Harcourt when she unfortunately ran into these men. Anita had called her dad to tell him she was about to enter a bus that will take her from the park to her sister's house. She later called her dad, informing him that she was the only woman in the bus with three men and they were taking her somewhere other than her destination. Ifeanyi Ubah's Capital Oil and Gas released a statement this evening saying it is releasing 13 million litres this night, which is about 400 trucks of petroleum products to ease the fuel scarcity that Nigeria is currently facing. They said they will release an additional 53 million litres in a few days. Read the statement below... This development has resulted in immense hardship to our fellow country men and women. We believe that a better solution can be pursued towards solving this problem in a way that does not adversely affect our dear citizens. Capital Oil and Gas has watched with so much pain, the suffering and hardship our citizens have been subjected to as a result of sc

Buhari Speaks on Fuel Subsidy & Scarcity Issues: “I Will Try and Find Out What Went Wrong”

Image
President-elect Muhammadu Buhari is speaking out about the current fuel issues Nigeria is facing. Here are excerpts from a recent interview he had with Daily Trust : One burning issue is fuel subsidy. I believe you are aware of the queues in major cities like Lagos and Abuja. The fuel importers say they are unsure of the direction of the new government in this area. Have you considered maintaining or withdrawing this subsidy or are you questioning whether it didn’t exist at all? One of the problems I have, other than the military, is the petroleum industry where I served for three and a half years under General Obasanjo. When people start talking about this subsidy I honestly get confused. I will tell you this, and I hope it will answer what you want to know. Back then we had a refinery in Port Harcourt, which was refining 30,000 barrels a day of Nigerian crude. Later, it was upgraded to refine 100,000 barrels a day. Another refinery was built in Port Harco
