Ifeanyi Ubah’s Capital Oil to release 13 million litres fuel tonight

Ifeanyi Ubah's Capital Oil and Gas released a statement this evening saying it is releasing 13 million litres this night, which is about 400 trucks of petroleum products to ease the fuel scarcity that Nigeria is currently facing. They said they will release an additional 53 million litres in a few days. Read the statement below... On Saturday 16th May 2015, we received an SMS ordering the suspension of loading activities in all depots from Monday 18th May 2015. We later realized that this directive was as a result of unpaid funds owed to transporters by oil marketers who in turn are owed by the Federal Government. President-elect Muhammadu Buhari is speaking out about the current fuel issues Nigeria is facing. Here are excerpts from a recent interview he had with Daily Trust : One burning issue is fuel subsidy. I believe you are aware of the queues in major cities like Lagos and Abuja. The fuel importers say they are unsure of the direction of the new government in this area. Have you considered maintaining or withdrawing this subsidy or are you questioning whether it didn’t exist at all? One of the problems I have, other than the military, is the petroleum industry where I served for three and a half years under General Obasanjo. When people start talking about this subsidy I honestly get confused. I will tell you this, and I hope it will answer what you want to know. Back then we had a refinery in Port Harcourt, which was refining 30,000 barrels a day of Nigerian crude. Later, it was upgraded to refine 100,000 barrels a day. Ogun State Senator-Elect Kashamu Placed Under House Arrest Pending Extradition Proceedings

                               Ogun State senator-elect Buruji Kashamu , has been placed under house arrest by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) pending his appearance in court on Monday for extradition proceedings. NDLEA officials reportedly stormed his Lekki home around about 5 a.m on Saturday, and are still there as of the time of this report. Kashamu, 56, was indicted by a grand jury in Illinois in 1998, for conspiracy to import and distribute heroin, International Business Times reports. At the time, he denied being responsible for the crime, claiming that it was a case of mistaken identity, and that it was his brother who was the leader of the drug ring in question. Ever since then Kashamu became an influential political leader in Nigeria, and was elected a senator in the recently concluded elections. Arik Air Cancels Flights due to Fuel Scarcity

  It looks like a lot more companies are being affected by the prevailing fuel scarcity and even the aviation sector is affected as Arik Air has canceled most of its flights. A sign was posted for customers to see and a photo of it has since been making the rounds on social media. Yesterday MTN, Beat FM and Naija FM also expressed a limit in production output due to fuel scarcity and a need to ration available resources.

Beat FM, MTN & Naija FM Shut Down due to Fuel Scarcity

Radio stations Beat 99.9 FM as well as Naija FM have shut down services very early tonight due to the ongoing fuel/diesel scarcity. Making the announcement on social media, the radio stations stated that they will be closing at 8:00PM. Beat FM mentioned on air that services will resume on Sunday morning but that Monday could not be guaranteed. Telecoms company MTN also sent out a message saying:

4 priests brutally beaten by Enugu Govt Taskforce

4 Anglican priests, were on Friday allegedly brutally beaten by some members a task-force working with the Enugu State Housing Corporation. The victims were Reverends Collins Odoabuchi, Mbaka Peter, Eugene, and Maxwell Onyia. Others members of the church affected were Ekpecha Okechukwu and Naomi Ibekwe. The incident, which is building up tension in Enugu, happened a week to the end of Governor Sullivan Chime’s administration. It was gathered that trouble started when members of the task force, accompanied by armed policemen, invaded a parcel of land that belong to the Christ Church, Uwani, Anglican Communion, and tried to demolish it with 5 bulldozers without saying anything to them first. This invasion angered the priests and members of the church. The Clerics were said to have tried to stop the Task force from carrying out the demolition exercise but were over powered by the government agents, who allegedly attacked the church leaders and mercilessly beat them u
