WHO declares Liberia Ebola free

The World Health Organisation on Saturday declared Liberia free of Ebola after no new cases were reported for 42 days, twice the virus’ incubation period.

The last Ebola patient in Liberia died on March 27, WHO said in a statement.
Some 11,020 people were killed in the outbreak, which started in Guinea in December 2013 as more than 26,000 were infected.

The Ebola virus spreads through direct contact with the blood or other bodily fluids of an infected person and the fatality rate is estimated to be between 50 and 80 per cent.
ADVERTISEMENT Liberia was hard-hit by the outbreak due to a lack of health services.
Scientists and doctors are beginning to study the long-term effects of Ebola on the body, as survivors have reported muscle and joint pain as well as eyesight problems months after being declared cured.

Australian teenager arrested in Melbourne ‘bomb plot’

Police arrested a 17-year-old and accused him of plotting to detonate three homemade bombs in the Australian city of Melbourne, officials said, in the latest scare blamed on a teenager.
The teen was arrested on Friday afternoon in a joint federal-state police operation at his home in the upmarket suburb of Greenvale where the explosive devices were found, Australian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner Mike Phelan said.

The bomb squad rendered the devices safe, he said.
Melbourne is Australia’s second largest city and is the capital of Victoria state.

Guatemalan President Otto Perez announced his vice president, Roxana Baldetti, was resigning after one of her top aides was accused of participating in a customs bribery ring.
The announcement came two days after Guatemala’s Supreme Court called on Congress to remove Baldetti’s immunity from prosecution, clearing the way for possible legal action against the vice president.

Perez said Baldetti had voluntarily left the post “in order to participate in and collaborate with the necessary investigations and above all with due process of the law.”
“Her decision is personal, thoughtful, tough and brave,” Perez said, as he announced her resignation.
Nearly three weeks ago prosecutors uncovered the customs bribery ring following an investigation by the UN International Commission Against Impunity, accusing top tax officials and Baldetti aide Juan Carlos Monzon of involvement.

The scandal has rocked Guatemala, with some calling for Baldetti and Perez to …

Janelle Monáe's Met Gala Braid

Janelle Monáe ruled the red carpet with her braided hairstyle.

The "Electric Lady" wore a braid quite similar to the hairdo she wore at last year's event. However, this look was less pompadour and more faux mohawk. Her stylist Caprice Green started a large plait at the center of her head that fell elegantly to one side.

Check out Monáe's badass braid below,

Small French braids help give Monáe's faux mohawk hairstyle some flair. And the voluminous texture of the larger-than-life center braid makes it regal. Finish with a spritz Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Elixer to add shine.

Beyoncé's Attendance at the Mayweather v. Pacquiao Fight: An Antifeminist Act

According to  Huffingtonpost:

Floyd Mayweather beat his opponent Manny Pacquiao while millions watched and millions were made on Saturday night. In between rounds, viewers were given a glance at the celebrities attending the event such as Denzel, Nicki Minaj, and most notably Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Even if you didn't watch the fight, you probably heard about her outfit (which is what many writers are focusing on.)

Beyoncé looked dazzling in a revealing red jump suit and immediately captured everyone's attention. But while everyone else was fixated on her outfit, I felt a sense of disappointment when I saw her, one of my favorite artists, in the audience.

I should begin by saying that I am a HUGE Beyoncé fan, I think she is beautiful, talented, an incredible example of a businesswoman, and someone whose work speaks to a variety of life experiences. I have also felt encouraged by Beyoncé's declarations of being a feminist, even though this claim has garnered a l…
