Dangote Group to launch 25,000 Hectares Rice Outgrower Scheme in Sokoto

Dangote Rice Limited (DRL) , a subsidiary of  Dangote Group ,  is set to launch in Sokoto state, its multi-million Naira 25,000 hectares of rice outgrower scheme with a prospect of hundreds of thousands of employment opportunities for inhabitants of the rural communities. President of the Group,  Aliko Dangote disclosed at the weekend that the Company will  on Wednesday , flag off with a pilot project of 500 Ha by Gonroyo dam, in Goronyo community. Gonroyo dam is the second largest in the country, after Kainji. The flag off ceremony which will be performed by the governor of the state,  Aminu Tambuwa,  will witness seedlings being distributed to the primary local farmers who will in turn plant them, after which Dangote Rice company will purchase from them for milling and final processing. Sokoto state is one of the 14 states spread across the country where Dangote Rice plans to operate the outgrower scheme to empower local farmers and create job opportunities for community dwell

It was a night of fine wining, dining and networking as young professionals converged at the Soul Lounge, Lagos, for a special pre-Valentine event tagged  ‘Networking for Love.’ Indeed, the evening provided a rare opportunity for the young professionals from various sectors of the economy to mingle and network with themselves. The event also had in attendance top celebrities including  Banky W,  Ace comedian  MC Abbey  and was hosted by TV Presenter,  Jumoke Alawode-James, amongst others. True to the objective of the night, guests had fun networking all evening with the  Network Train Game  which saw the guests interacting with people fellow professionals. Soon enough, guests were exchanging business cards and contacts in order to connect and foster relationships after the event.

The 12th of February, 2017 saw  Runtown headline his first ever UK concert put together by Therapy entertainment and Africa Unplugged limited. Runtown didn’t disappoint as he thrilled his adoring fans. With Valentine vastly approaching, the ladies in London came out in full force to see him! Hosted by Beat FM & Factory 78’s  Adesope,  the stage was warmed up by acts like  Kojo funds ,  Naira Marley ,  DJ Cuppy ,  Eugy ,  Kwamz  and  Flava ,  Kc Pozzy ,  Ray ,  Tomi Agap e and lots more. Runtown surprised his fans with his special guest  Wizkid  who joined him on stage for their rendition of “ Lagos to Kampala  “. Performing other hits of his, the night ended with the most popular Afrobeats song of the moment “ Mad over you  ” which he performed multiple times including various versions. He closed the show with the monster hit sending the audience into a frenzy as they belted the words to the song back to back. See the photos after the cut

Tonto Dikeh confirms she has left her husband, says he has not checked up on their son since the split

For weeks, there has been rumours that Tonto Dikeh's marriage to Oladunni Olakunle Churchill has crashed. Today, Tonto took to her Instagram page to confirm that she has left her husband and she took her son with her. In response to a letter a concerned fan wrote to her, Tonto revealed she has left her marriage with her son and that she gave her husband access to their son but that he has not checked up on him. Nigerian comedian slumps and dies days after sharing news of his new car on Facebook

MC Worthy Comedian, an entertainer resident in Imo State died in the early hours of this morning, only days after he bought a new car. The Comedian was reportedly healthy and showed no signs of an illness until he started complaining of a severe headache early this morning. He reportedly slumped soon after shouting that his head ached terribly and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Federal Medical Centre Owerri.

Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Loven, who garnered international attention after she rescued severely malnourished child branded a witch and left to starve to death, has done it again. The founder of the Children's Aid Education and Development Foundation (ACAEDF) took to her Facebook page moments ago to announce the rescue of another boy abandoned by his family. "Today  Nsidibe Orok  and I went on a rescue mission. A boy was abandoned and left alone on the street. We found the boy tortured all over his body but he is safe now with all of us at "Land of Hope"

Zimbabwean woman pledges daughter as tithe

A Zimbabwean woman who suffered a number of miscarriages early in her marriage has offered her daughter as tithe to her church leader. The woman identified as Convictions Mapfumo from Sally Mugabe Height gave her child, a grade three student to Bishop Susan Zika Dube, the founder of  Holy Baptist Apostolic Church. Mapfumo is said to have experience painful miscarriages four times  but after the Bishop prayed for her, she gave birth to three girls born in 2005, 2009 and 2001.

MarketMoni: FG begins disbursement of interest-free loans to traders, artisans, youths & farmers

The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced disbursement of interest-free loans to the latest accredited beneficiaries of  MarketMoni  –  the  Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) targeting market women and traders, artisans, youths and farmers.  MarketMoni is one of four schemes under the Social Intervention Programme of the Federal Government, and is being executed by the  Bank of Industry (BOI) . As part of the efforts of the  President Muhammadu Buhari  administration to stimulate the Nigerian economy and deepen financial inclusion for the under-banked and unbanked, over 24,000 Nigerians – including market women and traders, artisans, and youth – have so far benefited from the special intervention programme since its roll-out in December, 2016. The Office of the Vice-President revealed that the Federal Government has commenced disbursements in thirteen (13) states and the Federal Capital Territory, through the Bank of Industry (BOI), and will be expanding
